Coffee Hour
There is a “Coffee Hour” after both the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services. The title is somewhat of a misnomer as there is often other items besides coffee available and it’s usually not a full hour! Still the name has stuck. There is a sign-up sheet on the Parish Life bulletin board situated in the hallway from the offices to the Great Hall. The duties are divided between the 8 a.m. crew who make the coffee and bring modest baked goods for that service and the 10:15 a.m. crew who bring a larger amount of snacks including items for children and then clean up after the later service. “Teams” can sign up for the duties. During the summer the coffee hour is held after the 9:15 service and teams from both the academic year services take turns signing up for a Sunday July, August and Labor Day weekend.

Parish Directory

An older Parish Directory (2006) is available for members to pick up in the office. We have a "break out" of the directory on our photo wall and we add pictures of new members as well. Please be in touch with us if you`d like our photographer, Jim Goodwin, to take your picture. Come in if you wish to have a copy of the directory or wish to add  a picture to our photo wall. We also have a more current printout of members names and addresses available for the asking in the office.

Upcoming Parish Events

In August, 2009 the J2A Pilgrimage went to Toronto, Canada. This was the culminating trip for this group that was together for 4 years. A major fall event is our Welcome Home Sunday on the second Sunday of September (Sept. 12, 2010) when we start our programs for the season.... 8 a.m. and 10:15 services, Choir at 9 a.m., Teen Program, Church School all start. We also have a Brunch at 9 a.m. on that Sunday as well, put on by the Mens Group and Parish Life. The Rectory Chapel Service with Contemporary Music at 9:15 on Sundays begins on the second Sunday of September. ninesixteen provides the music. Contemporary Music services at the 10:15 time slot are offered in September, November, January, March and May. Other events include the Parish Appreciation Dinner, the St. Nicholas Fair (below) the Christmas Pageant, Lenten Studies for all ages in March and other items as they appear on the monthly calendar.

The St. Nicholas Fair will be held on the first Saturday of December from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (December 4th, 2010) The Chairs continue to be Lisa Humphreys (photo above) and Dayna Flath who are supported by at least a dozen and half booth managers. We again were able to raise close to $10,000 for community outreach progrmas. Many of us are already making and gathering items for next year`s Fair....... The Pre-Fair Nuts, Poinsettia and Wreath sales raise money in the weeks before the event. All proceeds from the Fair as well as all other fund-raisers go to support our outreach ministry in northeast Connecticut, the nation and beyond. For a list of critical needs look in our Courier or call the office, 928-7026. Every year the Fair provides a wonderful fellowship atmosphere as well as raising over $10,000.
