HEIFER INTERNATIONAL
Our Church School has led the congregation in supporting the Heifer Project for several years. In the spring, before Easter, students go into the service for a couple of Sundays before the Animal Fair to talk about the positive M’s of their animals. They organize an animal fair in the Great Hall after the service. The congregation moves into the Hall for their coffee hour to be greeted by live rabbits and chickens and miniature baby goats. The children wear feather headdresses and ears and man tables that explain the value of their animals and encourage the members of the congregation to give the gift of their animal to a family member.
The timing is such that we usually take advantage of a double the donation program that Heifer is offering so our contribution is maximised.
We have enhanced this program with field trips to the Heifer Project farm in Rutland Massachusetts to learn more about how the program works in different countries.
